Our Project:
To design and prototype an interactive artifact, to connect people living in the digital media realm and people who rely on traditional physical forms of media.
Digital media moves forward at an accelerating rate and encompasses almost every aspect of life and society today. An entire generation of “digital natives” are creating, consuming, and socializing in a way that has never been before. They connect, communicate, and share far more in the digital realm than in the traditional physical forms. However, digital media is not equally accessible or acceptable to everybody, for example: older generations who have less information technology skills or are customized to traditional media and lifestyle; young children who have yet to develop their literacy and abilities to use digital media and online services; or people living in underdeveloped or isolated regions who have less exposure or connectivity to digital media. As a result, these people are sometimes disconnected from those who live in the digital realm, including their own family members and friends.
How do we bridge the gap between the two sets of people: those who spent most their life in the traditional physical manner, and those who express themselves almost exclusively through digital media?
